The Catholic Art Institute was proud to partner with The Catholic University of America for our 5th Annual Conference which took place took place on September 27 & 28, 2024, in Washington D.C.. The conference began with an opening mass in the beautiful Dominican House of Studies chapel. The Mass of Blessed Fra Angelico, patron saint of artists, was offered by Fr. Irenaeus Dunlevy, O.P. accompanied by polyphonic choral music. Many thanks to Fr. Dunlevy for offering the mass and helping bring it to the House of Studies Chapel.
We were once again joined by the leading artists & scholars to rediscover the power of beauty in the modern world. We would like to thank: Dr Chloë Reddaway, McDonald Agape Research Fellow in Theology and the Visual Arts and Deputy Director Centre for Arts and the Sacred, King’s College London, Craig Hamilton, Traditional Architect, Roberta Ahmanson, Author & Philanthropist, James C. McCrery, II AIA, NCARB, Traditional Architect & Founder of the Traditional Architecture program at The Catholic University of America, Dr. Barbara Nicolosi, Screenwriter & Author, and The Very Rev. Fr. Joshua Caswell SJC, Superior General of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius for their inspiring and profound presentations.
The conference included an elegant sit down dinner in Heritage Hall, on Friday, Sept. 27th. and included a presentation on the Holy Rosary by Fr. Irenaeus Dunlevy, O.P. and a sculpture in progress by Andrew W. Smith. Artist, John Folley, captured the evening in a live painting demonstration.
The Sacred Art Prize 2023 winners and the 2024 Short Film Festival films
also were screened at the conference.
